Description R.D. Ramseyer DVM Inc. has provided veterinary care for the residents in Utica and the surrounding communities for almost 35 years. Dr. Richard Ramseyer, who has a special interest in llamas and alpacas, founded the practice in 1969. His son, Dr. Erich Ramseyer, joined him in 2000. Dr. Erich returned to Utica after completing 2 internships in small animal medicine and small animal surgery at a large referral hospital in New Jersey. He then spent a year as an emergency veterinarian at a referral and emergency hospital in Akron, Ohio were he continued his surgical training. This has allowed him to become comfortable performing complex surgical procedures including cruciate ligament repair. By working together, this father and son team give honest, quality care to all their patients.
Special Features Farm/House calls are available. Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery are performed using gas anesthesia while patient's vital signs are electronically monitored. Ultrasonic dental cleaning and polishing are performed. On site x-ray equipment and consultation is available for rapid results. Artificial insemination and breeding consultation is available. Both wellness examinations and geriatric evaluations are offered. Pain management, both traditional and homeopathic, is administered to those in need. Ear cropping, tail docking or de-clawing is performed for those clients who wish to have it done. Boarding and grooming are available.
